MEET YOUR TEACHER NIGHT
Tuesday, August 24, 2010
6:00-7:30 p.m.
Meet Your Teacher Night is a night for parents to come and meet your child’s teacher(s). You will meet your child’s teacher, hear the expectations of the teacher, and have an opportunity to ask questions. Since the students have only been in session 5 ½ days, please do not ask the teacher about student progress. This meeting is for the parents and we ask that students do not attend. On February 17th we will host an open house for the students and their families.
The teachers will talk at two different times (6:05-6:30 & 6:35-7:00). We would like parents to visit their child’s classroom during one of the two times. Teachers will be available from 7:00-7:30 as an informal time for those families with more than two children. The 7-7:30 timeslot is also a great time to meet and talk with the PE, music, library, reading, and resource teachers that will be working with your children.
It has been proven that students perform better in school when parents are involved in their child’s education. One way to get involved is to know what the expectations are and to get to know your child’s teacher. I encourage you to attend Meet the Teacher Night.
In the gym there will be sign up sheets for conference times in October. You can sign up for a morning, afternoon, or evening time. You can also indicate when there is more than one child in the family to schedule. The teachers will coordinate the times.
I look forward to seeing all the parents this Tuesday at Meet the Teacher Night.

The Illinois Learning & Technology Purchasing Program (ILTPP) has established a Microsoft purchasing program for all Illinois K-12 teachers, staff and students. These are licenses that students, faculty and staff buy on their own and will personally own forever. In the past, this group would have to pay $499 for Office Professional in local stores. Through this purchasing program, the same product costs less than $90. Parents and staff can literally save hundreds of dollars and obtain life long learning tools. All pricing and orders can be found at:
From the menu on the site, choose K-12, United States, Illinois, Morton Community Unit School District 709, to see the software available.
